The only job I ever dreamed about was editing books, mostly books for kids and teens—and I have been lucky enough in my professional life to do exactly that. I spent ten years on the editorial staff at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers (Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group), where I acquired and edited many wonderful books.
Acclaimed books I’ve worked on include Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows (which stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for more than a year) and Crooked Kingdom, as well as the three books of her Grisha Trilogy (all of which also hit the NYT list); How It Went Down by Kekla Magoon (a Coretta Scott King Honor Book); and popular favorites like Firebug and Pyromantic by Lish McBride, among others.
As a freelancer, I work with authors at all levels, agents looking for editorial help for their clients, and publishing houses in need of an extra hand.
